“My passion is to develop and support MSME entrepreneurs, helping them succeed in their business. You have to have vision, commitment and purpose in what you are doing.”

Naime Tom O’ome is an esteemed Business Consultant and Professional Accountant who has quietly played a pivotal role in many of Papua New Guinea’s most successful companies.

After obtaining a master's in professional accounting from the Divine Word University of PNG, Naime began his career as a Clerk at Coopers & Lybrand in 1993, staying with the company through the merger that saw them become PricewaterhouseCoopers, and becoming a practicing accountant in the process.

In December 2003, Naime joined SBC Solutions (formerly Star Business Consultants) where he discovered his passion and carved out a niche, working with Micro, Small, and Medium Business Enterprises and helping them to flourish. Naime held various positions with SBC, was made Partner in 2010 and currently serves as the firm’s Principal.

Over the last three decades, Naime’s areas of expertise have expanded to include establishing and registering new companies, joint ventures and other forms of business partnership, setting up accounting systems, management and financial accounting, tax law, reporting and compliance, business acquisition and day to day business advice.

He additionally fulfills the role of company secretary for Trans Wonderland Ltd (TWL) and is an Executive Member and Treasurer of MSME Council of PNG.

In his philanthropic endeavours, Naime holds the position of Treasurer within the City of Glory Church in Port Moresby, and volunteers as the Chair of the Council for Scripture Union Papua New Guinea. He is an Associate Member of CPA Papua New Guinea, a professional member of the PNG Institute of Directors, and serves as a Commissioner of Oaths in Papua New Guinea.

“Niu Nature Ltd is such an incredibly exciting opportunity to do something special. Everything in life starts small. We have the right people, and we are united by a big idea. We have a compelling vision for how to get there, and a team that knows what success looks like. We have every potential to achieve it.”

Larry is a proud and humble initiated Huli man, growing up in the small hamlet of Karai, wearing traditional clothing and walking two hours to school and back each day. Beginning his career as a school teacher, Larry came to prominence as a community spokesman, negotiating on behalf of his fellow Landowners with some of the world’s most powerful companies when oil was discovered on their ancestral lands.

In mid-2009, he gathered landowner groups from across the PNGLNG project area to establish Trans Wonderland Ltd (TWL). TWL is made up of over 10,000 shareholders consisting of clans and Incorporated Landowner Groups from across four provinces (Hela, Southern Highlands, Western and Gulf).

Larry says: “At TWL, we believe the principles of good corporate governance are fundamental to creating a strong and sustainable economy for future generations. Accountability, fairness, transparency and responsibility are the framework for leadership and decision making. They are encoded in our DNA through our constitution.”

While TWL is widely considered a benchmark in PNG and has gone from strength to strength in recent years, Larry is at heart, still a community organiser who remains focused on the future prosperity of all Papua New Guineans. “Our vision has always been to build a company that lasts beyond the life of oil and gas. Expanding the middle class, educating children, building homes and creating generational wealth, that’s what gives me the greatest pleasure.”

“You only have to look at business trends around the world. These blue and green economies have to be part of Papua New Guinea developing in the right way. This is the future, and I’m proud to be part of Niu Nature. We have to get this right, its too important for our people to mess this up or get it wrong.”
